Homer Sheppard Memorial Award

Homer Sheppard was born May 15, 1944. He joined the Ocala Jaycees in June 1975. He served as President of the Ocala Jaycees, and in May 1981 he recieved his Senatorship, #31214. While working his way up on the Florida JCI Senate board,  serving as Management VP he passed away at home.
 
In 1986 President Michael Aleno #28466 presented the 1st Homer Sheppard Memorial Award to Ira Moser #32475.
 
This award is selected by the Outgoing FLJCI Senate president and presented to the Most Outstanding Officer of the year. It is an honor to receive a Homer Sheppard Memorial Award.
 
In 2018, The Homer Sheppard Memorial Award was retired and a new award, The Larry Ackerman Memorial Award was started. In 2019, it was decided to re-instate the Homer Sheppard Award for the Most Outstanding Officer of the year, and change the Larry Ackerman Award to the Most Outstanding Senator of the Year.
